Tactical Gear News from LBX Tactical and Pantac USA

Both LBX Tactical and Pantac USA are releasing completely new lines of tactical gear this year. We take a closer look at both series here.

Pantac USA’s latest product release comes in the form of their Lightweight Modular System. This system is a completely customizable load carrying scheme that is scalable for anything from a lightweight static rig to a more complete assault pack and chest panel.

Pantac LWMS Mk1 Kryptek Chest Rig Tactical Gear

The Pantac LWMS tactical gear follows advances in design and materials in order to deliver kit that is both lighter and more modular. Option one is the LWMS Skeleton Basic Set. This MOLLE rig eliminates the backing to reduce weight. In addition to the flexibility of the MOLLE, any of the LMWS chest rigs have a number of harness options.

You can read more about Pantac USA and the LWMS gear here.

LBX Tactical, a division of LBT, has a complete set of new camouflage patterns coming out in their tactical uniform offerings. The LBX Tactical combat uniform comprises two parts, the Assaulter Shirt and Assaulter Pants. The shirt is a combat shirt design that features a soft torso with the camouflage pattern across the sleeves and yoke. The shirt features velcro covered shoulder pockets for gear access when you’re wearing a plate carrier, while the pant features a number of different cargo pockets for gear storage and quick access.

The new camo patterns are a modern digital camouflage, available in 4 colorways. The patterns, Snow Raptor, Inland Taipan, Caiman, and Mantis, range from a snow pattern to an arid or desert scheme, a transitional color scheme, and a darker tropical or temperate pattern. These provide a wide range of camo options that can be applied to fit any environment.

Pantac Lightweight Modular System – LWMS

Pantac_LWMS_MOLLE_Chest_Rig_A-TACS_FGPantac’s newest series in tactical gear is their LWMS  line. The LWMS, or Lightweight Modular System, encompasses a completely new design focus that delivers lighter versatile gear while maintaining the same durability.

We received a few different pieces from the LMWS series to test out. Overall, there are a couple of features that carry across the board. The first is that these are constructed with 500D Cordura Nylon. This is still plenty durable, but cuts down on fabric weight. Additionally, the shoulder straps have removed the large, thick padding and gone with a much slimmer layered Cordura design. This provides good support without the bulk of the thick shoulder straps. The last change that’s found in all of the LWMS kit is a slightly lighter 1 inch webbing. This webbing is flexible and, again, just a bit lighter than standard webbing. Continue reading

Pantac USA Lightweight Modular System – Tactical Gear

Pantac USA first unveiled the beginning models of their LWMS gear at the 2013 SHOT Show. On display was a MOLLE Chest Rig designed with the backing removed for increased weight savings. This chest rig is fully compatible with MOLLE pouches, but cuts a lot of weight compared to a traditional MOLLE panel.

The AOR1 or Desert Digital model is a new color scheme, but is available across all of Pantac’s product line. The Multicam setup displays the chest rig with pouches in place.

When Tactical Is Practical: Guide to Tac Vests Pt. 2

This is Part Two of a series on choosing a tactical vest. Want to review Part One?

What is your role on the field?

Indoor CQC Vest setup with Condor Modular Operator Plate CarrierMost players take on the role of a rifleman carrying an AEG of some kind as a primary weapon and a pistol as a secondary. However, if you carry a bolt action sniper rifle, high-powered semi-automatic marksman rifle, or a support weapon like an M249 or an M240, you may have some pretty specific requirements. The role of Sniper or Marksman favors concealment and mobility. Lightweight chest rigs like the condor RRV or even a pre-configured vest like the condor Recon chest rig paired with a hydration backpack offer a great lightweight low profile solution. For support weapons specialists, the number of items actually carried becomes minimal. Carrying around extra box magazines isn’t very practical so loose ammunition is ideal here. Your weapon system easily weighs two or three times as much as the average AEG, so carrying more weight isn’t an attractive option. You may consider some SVS body armor for protection, and wear something small like the condor OPS chest rig over it to give you some space for a few pistol magazines, a radio, and an ammo pouch. If you feel like you could use a little extra MOLLE a battle belt and an H-Harness just might do the trick.

Tactical Gear on a Budget

Pre-configured tactical vests are available starting at $33.00 for the Condor Chest Rig. MOLLE systems start at $25.00 for the Condor Modular Chest Panel without pouches. If there is a pre-configured vest that suits your needs, it’s certainly a little easier on the wallet. However, if you have multiple weapons systems, buying a single MOLLE vest and several sets of pouches to match each load out can be cheaper than buying a different vest for each weapon.

Condor produces a couple of more versatile options that bridge the gap between a full MOLLE vest and a tactical vest. The Condor Recon Chest Rig and the Condor Rapid Assault Chest Rig both feature a number of built-in pouches, but also feature sections of MOLLE for customization. These can be good compromises in cost while maintaining future modularity.

Considering all of the factors mentioned above, here are a few staff recommendations: Continue reading

J-Tech Tactical Gear SHOT Show 2012

While at the SHOT Show, we stopped by the J-Tech Tactical Gear booth. J-Tech is a business partner with Strike Industries as far as we can tell. Strike Industries makes firearm parts for AR and 1911s, and J-Tech produces tactical gear and bags.  We took a few photos of some of their more unique pieces gear. They do make the standard style M4 and pistol mag pouches, as well as a wide variety of law enforcement duty gear.

While they didn’t have their whole selection on display at the SHOT Show, they did have some nice looking gear. All J-Tech tactical gear is assembled with YKK buckles and 1000D Cordura.
