KWA CQR Series AEGs, KWA sportline M4 and M4 CQB Airsoft Rifles
While the news is already out there, the story about the KWA CQR series airsoft guns is still pretty new. The KWA CQR has a 2GX gearbox in an AEG that sells for $189.95. They were announced by KWA at the SHOT Show, and, if they perform as intended, could change the AEG market. While those are some pretty hefty claims, KWA is the one company that we expect can actually back them up with a high performance product. Read on to see what all KWA can cram into one rifle for under $200.
KWA’s goal with the CQR series M4 type rifles was to provide an affordable AEG that did not suffer the same issues that other low-cost AEG have. From the specs provided by KWA and the test items we were able to handle at the SHOT Show, it seems like they have hit the mark with the upcoming CQR Mod1 and Mod2.
Externally, there were a few issues KWA wanted to address in the CQR model airsoft guns. Because a multiple piece barrel is less sturdy, they opted for a proline style one piece outer barrel. Along with the solid barrel, they chose to use a metal upper receiver to eliminate barrel wobble. This makes for a gun that is both realistically heavy and sturdy, without the cheap feeling of other entry level M4 AEGs. The lower receiver itself is a polycarbonate, which should be both lightweight and strong. This is the main cost saving area on this rifle. While it’s a unique combination of a polycarb lower receiver and a metal upper receiver, it results in a weapon that is both affordable and durable.
Internally, KWA reports that the rifle will have a complete 2GX Gearbox. This means that the gears, bearings, and gearbox shell are all identical to the proven KM4 series AEGs. The 2GX gearbox should give the KWA CQR unprecedented reliability in this price range. The only change in the gearbox is that the CQR series will be shooting 350FPS, which legal for indoor use, and still adequate for outdoor play. KWA intends to equip the KWA CQR with the same motor found in the KM4 series. This is good news, since a high performance motor will last much longer than the cheaper motors found in other entry-level airsoft guns.
In addition, KWA will be releasing their K120 polymer magazine, and each CQR AEG will include a K120 midcap mag. These polymer mags are designed for all KWA rifles, and should provide an affordable, KWA OEM midcap magazine. KWA also has plans to sell replacement polymer shells so the magazines can be reconfigured in any color. All this in a $20 midcap, which will cost even less in a 6 pack.
What does all this mean for you, though? It means you get the best airsoft rifle that’s ever existed for under $200.
